Reviving the Signal: Bringing Simfoni Radio back to Life

For decades, Simfoni Radio faithfully broadcast the hope of Jesus to its local community in Indonesia. With a humble, decades-old transmitter, the station became a trusted voice in the region.

But as the years passed, the equipment began to fail. By 2019, the transmitter finally broke down completely.

Pastor Budi*, who led the station, scrambled to keep the ministry alive using a weaker, temporary transmitter and an old, rusting tower that was too short to carry the signal effectively.

As the broadcast range shrank, so did Budi’s audience. Fewer people were hearing the good news, and Budi wondered if this was the end of Simfoni Radio’s long ministry.

He prayed faithfully, asking God to show him the way forward.

In early 2024, an answer came. Anita*, one of Reach Beyond’s Indonesian co-workers, visited Budi’s struggling station and introduced him to our ministry.

Soon after, Budi was invited to attend our managers' conference - his first opportunity to meet other Christian broadcasters in a Muslim country where sharing the gospel is not easy, especially on public airwaves.

At the conference, Budi found new hope. Conversations with our team led to an incredible breakthrough.

Thanks to the generosity of Reach Beyond donors, Simfoni Radio was gifted a brand-new transmitter, a taller, safer tower, and a specially designed grounding system to protect the station from frequent lightning strikes - a constant threat in Indonesia.

Today, Simfoni Radio’s signal is strong once again, reaching further and touching more lives than Budi ever imagined.
