Water Testing Internship (West Africa)

Find out more...

Application deadline: 13 April 2025

Are you looking for a way to live out your faith through action? Reach Beyond celebrates the completion of more than 30 wells providing clean water in a West African country. But our work isn't done yet. We need an energetic and motivated team to join us on a three-week journey to fully assess the impact of these wells. This is to help us understand how these water sources have transformed lives and to ensure they continue to do so safely and efficiently.

Dates: Arrival 7 July, departure 26 July 2025

Requirements

* Training on the Go: Kick off with a crash course in Community Development, Clean Water initiatives, and the latest water testing kits.

* Defining the Data We Collect: In this first task, the team will define what data we aim to report. We’ll bring water testing equipment and geolocation trackers. What hard data are we collecting? And what soft data will help us better understand the impact of the wells?

* Field Exploration: Visit numerous wells with your team, collecting both data and stories about their impact.

* Water Quality Wizardry: Test water samples for safety and purity.

* Telling the Story: Compile your discoveries and stories into compelling reports. We use these reports to inform our partners in West Africa, adjust our approach if needed, and     share in publications and fundraising efforts. You may also use the data for further studies.

* You need to raise the funds needed to cover all the costs of the internship: £2,092 plus flights.

* Confirm that you are in agreement with our statement of faith.

These Are the People We're Looking For

* Whether you’re an experienced professional or a 3rd or 4th year student, we need your insights to ensure these wells effectively serve their communities.

* Our primary focus is on engineers, technicians and scientists who will assess water quality and technical interventions and provide recommendations.

* We also welcome development practitioners, educators, public health experts, and seminary students.
