Check the wells. Meet the people. Tell the stories.
Where: Benin, West Africa
When: July 3-24, 2026
Who: Students and professionals with a communications, storytelling, engineering, technical, science, public health or community development background
What is this experience?
Are you looking for a way to live out your faith through action - combining practical skills with deep human connection?
We are celebrating the completion of more than 30 clean water wells in Benin, a testament to faith in action!
But our work isn't done yet. We need an energetic and motivated team to join us on a three-week journey to fully assess the impact of these wells, to meet and listen to the local community, and to capture their stories.
Participants will evaluate the technical health of existing wells and explore the social, spiritual, and community impact of clean water access - bringing this work to life through stories.
Who should apply?
This experience brings together people with diverse but complementary skills, all working toward a shared goal.
We are especially seeking:
- Storytellers, photographers, writers, editors, designers
- Engineers, technicians, and scientists
- Development practitioners and public health professionals
- Educators and public communicators
- Others who God may be inviting to join this team
Whether your strength is technical analysis, creative expression, or other skills - your contribution matters.
What will we do?
Train on the Go
Begin with hands-on training in community development, clean water initiatives, and water testing tools. You’ll be supported every step of the way.
Define the Data
As a team, you’ll help determine what data we collect - both hard data (such as water quality, geolocation, technical functionality) and soft data (such as community experience, use patterns, perceived impact).
Field Exploration
Travel to multiple communities to inspect wells, conduct testing, and engage with the local community. This is where technical evaluation and relational presence meet.
Water Quality Assessment
Test water samples to ensure ongoing safety and effectiveness, providing insights and recommendations for future improvements.
Tell the Story
Compile your observations, interviews, and reflections into compelling stories. We use these reports to inform our partners in West Africa, adjust our approach if needed, and share in publications and fundraising efforts to multiply impact.
Why does this matter?
Clean water transforms communities - but stories help the world understand how and why it matters.
This experience blends technical excellence with creative storytelling, offering a holistic team approach to community development and mission.
Cost: Approximately £2000 + airfare
