Our lenten journey of prayer, sacrifice, and mission

In this solemn season of Lent, it is good to reflect on God's mission to the world and our role in it.

Lent is a time of prayer, fasting, and giving, reminding us of Jesus' sacrifice and love.

Firstly, Lent calls us to pray for those who don't know Jesus.

In 2 Corinthians 5:20, Paul describes us as "ambassadors for Christ", implying that we are to intercede on behalf of the unreached.

Our prayers and fasting can open doors in the spiritual realm, paving the way for hearts to be softened and lives to be transformed.

Secondly, Lent calls us to give sacrificially.

As Jesus gave His life for us, we are inspired to give not just out of our abundance, but sacrificially.

Paul encourages us in 2 Corinthians 9:7, “Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”

God uses our gifts to further His kingdom, reaching those who are still walking in darkness.

Lastly, Lent inspires us to go and share the gospel.

Matthew 28:19-20 commissions us to make disciples of all nations. This season reminds us that our faith is not just for us to hold onto, but to share.

As we reflect on Christ’s sacrifice, we are moved to share this incredible gift with others.

In this Lenten season, let us deepen our commitment to God's mission.

Let us pray fervently, give generously, and go boldly! Trusting that through our actions, others may come to know the life-changing love of Jesus Christ.
