Our trips for 2024

Below is a list of potential short-term trips by Reach Beyond UK in 2024 to work with our partners across Europe, working with various mobile people groups. All of our short-term team opportunities support long-term ministries and are designed to address specific needs identified by our ministry partners.

Medical work in Athens with One Heart

Dates: Oct or Nov 2024
Duration: 7-14 days
Team size: 4 to 8 people

One Heart have a medical clinic near the centre of Athens, serving migrants and refugees who struggle to access healthcare in Greece for a variety of reasons. Visit their website here.

Reach Beyond partners with One Heart and we’re responding to their request to send teams to enhance their ministry impact. By sending teams with medical skills, we can help provide additional clinical services that would not otherwise be available, or enhance the impact of one that is already scheduled.

The ideal team would include 1 or 2 doctors plus others with various medical skills and experience, nursing, therapists, pharmacy, administration etc.

The clinic and the patients seen will be selected based on the specialisations of the doctors and other healthcare professionals.

The team can include people without medical skills. We’re looking for those who have a heart for the needy and are willing to get stuck in with the tasks that are required each day, from working with young people, cooking or cleaning, through to just being there to chat and pray.

Accommodation would most likely be in an Airbnb style property near to the clinic.

Working at the International Church in Ceuta

Dates: Any time except July and August 2024
Duration: 7-14 days
Team size: 4 to 8 people

The Ceuta International Church based in the Spanish enclave of Ceuta is the base for a wide variety of outreach and capacity building work amongst migrants and refugees, both those travelling through Ceuta and those who have settled there. It is also a base for prayer, outreach, and support ministries across the border in Morocco.

There is a wide variety of potential work for a team to Ceuta, so each trip is organised based on the skills and abilities of those in the team, in combination with any specific projects or activities the International Church is planning to run.

There is a large amount of construction and maintenance work needed on the site of the church centre, from building, plumbing and electrical work through to gardening and cleaning.

Evangelistic work is done both near the beach and in the town centre, as well as events that are held on the church campus. Prayer trips and children’s outreach into Morocco can also be a feature of teams that serve there.

Accommodation is provided by the centre, which is basic but comfortable. Most food is provided by our hosts, Martin & Lina.

Because of the variety of work available, teams are welcomed at most times of the year, except for July and August. Dates would therefore be arranged based on availability of the team members and a Reach Beyond team leader.

Teaching and Crafts with Petalouda in Athens

Dates: April, May or November
Duration: 7-14 days
Team size: 4 to 8 people

Petalouda is a project run by Hellenic Ministries in Athens, working with the Roma people. Visit their website here.

The Petalouda centre works with mums, young children, and youth, from the nearby Roma community on the edge of Athens, providing a wide range of services from pre and post school sessions, to training programmes for young mums.

A team to Petalouda would work in the centre alongside the amazing and dedicated full time workers. Any skills that team members have, such as particular types of craft, would be utilised wherever possible.

The Petalouda ministry are requesting teams because this enables them to run additional outreach or community focused activities that would not otherwise be possible. Teams enhance their practical and spiritual impact.

Accommodation would most likely be an Airbnb style property as near as possible to the centre. As the centre is located well away from public transport, the team would hire vehicles to get around.

Relief work with Eurorelief on the Greek Islands

Dates: Any time except July and August
Duration: 14-28 days
Team size: 4 to 8 people

Eurorelief provide a wide range of services inside the refugee camps on the Greek islands of Lesbos and Samos, organising accommodation for newly arrived migrants and asylum seekers, providing vital products such as bedding, clothing and sanitary products, and much more. Visit their website here.

Eurorelief is staffed by Christians and has a remarkable opportunity to have a practical and spiritual impact with migrants and refugees on the Greek Islands.

The number of migrants arriving on the islands continues to grow, leaving the camps overcrowded in increasing need of help. Eurorelief have approached Reach Beyond and are in desperate need of teams to go and serve.

They provide all the necessary training for teams and organise the work schedule for each day at their early morning briefing meetings.

No particular skills are required, just a willingness to help and do what is required.

Accommodation will be in either a small hotel or Airbnb style property.
