Below is a list of potential short-term trips by Reach Beyond UK to work with our partners across Europe, working with various mobile people groups. All of our short-term team opportunities support long-term ministries and are designed to address specific needs identified by our ministry partners.
Medical work in Athens with One Heart
Dates: March, April, October or November
Duration: 7-14 days
Team size: 4 to 8 people
One Heart have a medical clinic near the centre of Athens, serving migrants and refugees who struggle to access healthcare in Greece for a variety of reasons. Visit their website here.
Reach Beyond partners with One Heart and we’re responding to their request to send teams to enhance their ministry impact. By sending teams with medical skills, we can help provide additional clinical services that would not otherwise be available, or enhance the impact of one that is already scheduled.
The ideal team would include 1 or 2 doctors plus others with various medical skills and experience, nursing, therapists, pharmacy, administration etc.
The clinic and the patients seen will be selected based on the specialisations of the doctors and other healthcare professionals.
The team can include people without medical skills. We’re looking for those who have a heart for the needy and are willing to get stuck in with the tasks that are required each day, from working with young people, cooking or cleaning, through to just being there to chat and pray.
Accommodation would most likely be in an Airbnb style property near to the clinic.
Teaching and Crafts with Petalouda in Athens
Dates: April, May or November
Duration: 7-14 days
Team size: 4 to 8 people
Petalouda is a project run by Hellenic Ministries in Athens, working with the Roma people. Visit their website here.
The Petalouda centre works with mums, young children, and youth, from the nearby Roma community on the edge of Athens, providing a wide range of services from pre and post school sessions, to training programmes for young mums.
A team to Petalouda would work in the centre alongside the amazing and dedicated full time workers. Any skills that team members have, such as particular types of craft, would be utilised wherever possible.
The Petalouda ministry are requesting teams because this enables them to run additional outreach or community focused activities that would not otherwise be possible. Teams enhance their practical and spiritual impact.
Accommodation would most likely be an Airbnb style property as near as possible to the centre. As the centre is located well away from public transport, the team would hire vehicles to get around.
